How To Spend Holidays In Zurich, Switzerland During The Summer

Zurich is a popular cosmopolitan city with ancient buildings and beautiful parks. The city is situated on Lake Zurich and is close to the Swiss Alps, offering spectacular views. The public transit system is efficient, and most facilities are in good working order.

The Lakeside Promenade is a great place for an evening stroll or meal. From the lake, take a stroll down Bahnhofstrasse, the world-famous street. Augustinergasse meanders through the city on its way to the Old Town.

Many of Zurich’s attractions can be found in the Old Town. In the 4th century, a Roman fort stood atop Lindenhof, but it is now demolished. The park still offers wonderful vistas of several historical structures. Grossmünster is a magnificent mediaeval Romanesque church with spectacular views of the city from the top of the tower. Marc Chagall’s window paintings may be found in Fraumünster, a historic Gothic church. The Kunsthaus, a famous Swiss art museum with free admission on Wednesdays, and the Landesmuseum, Switzerland’s largest history museum, are both worth seeing. The main railway station, which also houses the Swiss National Museum, is a magnificent fairy-tale castle that is almost a century old, and the park just behind it is also a delight.

The Polybahn and a river cruise are two other options for viewing Zurich. The Polybahn is a funicular railway that has been in operation for almost a century. It starts from Tram Station Central and runs all the way to ETH. Many of Zurich’s attractions border the Limmat River as it snakes its way through the city, and one of Zurich’s sightseeing cruises is a terrific opportunity to see them all. Boats depart at the Swiss National Museum and go for approximately 90 minutes round trip.
