In recent weeks, travellers who travel most on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean have faced long lines at airports, flight delays or cancellations, and a great deal of aggravation. Is this going to be the new normal?
Thousands of Britons flocked to airports as the Easter vacation season began, coinciding with the removal of coronavirus restrictions across Europe. However, over a thousand flights across the United Kingdom have been cancelled in the last two weeks, disturbing the vacation plans of tens of thousands of people. On Saturday alone, British Airways and easyJet cancelled around 100 flights.
Also, according to Edmund King, head of the Automobile Association, traffic would be higher than usual on Saturday morning, with football traffic flowing from Liverpool and Manchester to Wembley due to the lack of direct trains.
One of the major fears to travel for American travelers is the pre-departure coronavirus test, which they believe may mean they’d be stuck overseas if they test positive. The United States is the only major Western tourist destination that still requires a negative test to visit; the Netherlands, Ireland, and Jamaica have all recently abandoned the condition.
