    The Adventure Begins

Upon arrival in Anchorage, meet your private driver guide for a transfer to your hotel.

Experience the best Anchorage has to offer in a private-guided adventure through Alaska’s largest city.  First, you’ll visit historic Ship Creek, the birthplace of Anchorage as a tent city in 1911. Here, you’ll find a thriving urban salmon stream where downtown anglers often catch salmon on their lunch breaks from work. Continue on to Earthquake Park and Point Woronzof, where you can take in the stunning view of the Anchorage skyline set against the backdrop of the Chugach Mountains and Cook Inlet. Perhaps you’ll be lucky enough to catch sight of a moose along the roadway. Next, it’s on to Lake Hood, known as the busiest seaplane base in the world. Watch as local bush pilots expertly land their planes and taxi to their landing docks. The journey continues with a visit to the incomparable Turnagain Arm and Beluga Point, a hub for majestic scenery and wildlife like Beluga whales, Dall sheep, mountain goats, black bears, and even bald eagles. Stop at Potter’s Marsh and the Anchorage Coastal Wildlife Refuge, a protected wildlife habitat home to many migratory species of birds in the summer. As the tour comes to an end, you’ll head back downtown where your guide will point out the best restaurants, bars, gift shops, and art galleries before bidding farewell.

Learn the story of Alaska’s culture through art, design, history, and science with your private guide at the Anchorage Museum today. Wander through the museum’s various galleries as you gain insights into local culture from the native tribes that first settled here, the infamous gold rush, to modern-day Alaska.

  2. Day 2 ANCHORAGE TO TALKEETNA

    Venture into the Outdoors

Meet your private driver and head out for a classic Alaskan experience today. Start this adventure with a spectacular helicopter ride over glaciers and icebergs. Keep an eye out for moose, black bears, Dall sheep, and mountain goats as you soar above the mountains. Land on a snowfield high on a glacier and enjoy some time with Alaskan sled dogs and their mushers. Take the dog team for an exhilarating dog sled ride through real snow. You can stand on the runners and mush your own dog team or relax on the sled as the mushers run the team. After your dogsled run, meet the canine athletes that pulled your sled, listen to stories about running sled dog races of over 1,000 miles long, and interact with the puppies. Return to your helicopter to fly over the lower glaciers were and see the blue melt pools and the crevasses.

Transfer from Anchorage to the historic village of Talkeetna with your private driver guide. Boasting panoramic views of the Alaska Range, Talkeetna sits at the base of North America’s largest peak, Denali. Talkeetna also offers a large variety of great outdoor activities you can take advantage of to further immerse yourself in this beautiful location. Amazing flight-seeing tours of Denali, scenic riverboat tours, flat water rafting, biking, hiking, and zip-lining are all at your fingertips during this flexible full-day tour and transfer. Easily customized to your preference, this experience allows you to choose activities within unspoiled natural surroundings or offers the chance to simply stroll the quaint village streets filled with art galleries, great eateries, and award-winning local beer. Your transfer concludes with a drop-off at your Talkeetna accommodation.

  3. Day 3 TALKEETNA

    Relax on the River

Set out to explore Talkeetna’s best hiking trails with a private naturalist guide today. A new scene of beauty unfolds around every turn on this three-mile moderate hike. Look for loons and kingfishers on the lakes, moose and bears in the woods, and Denali on the horizon. This lush old-growth forest is alive with songbirds, wildflowers, berries, and mushrooms. Your guide will tell you stories about wildlife encounters, life in Talkeetna, and how native people survived in this wild land. The fresh Alaskan air will renew and invigorate you. Conclude with a private transfer back to your hotel.

  4. Day 4 TALKEETNA TO DENALI NATIONAL PARK

    Nurtured by Nature

Sheldon Chalet is only accessible by helicopter which is exclusive to the Sheldon Family since you are landing on their private 5 acres within Denali National Park. The helicopter flight is included in your stay and a grand part of the experience. Upon landing on the chalet’s custom heliport, you’ll be greeted with a sampler of fresh Alaska delicacies and champagne.

Explore the chalet and plan your upcoming adventures with your personal guides. Choose an informative book on the area to read from the library or unwind after your journey in the sauna.

  5. Day 5 DENALI NATIONAL PARK

    Hidden Gems

The Ruth Glacier surrounds the Sheldon nunatak and is close to a mile thick in places. Venture into the glacier itself with mountaineering guides explaining the environmental significance of it during a glacier trek.

What better way to settle back into the comfort of the lodge than with savory treats for the palate served alongside a cocktail.

  6. Day 6 DENALI NATIONAL PARK

    Sights and Insights

Constructed in 1966, the original Mountain House is an icon of Alaska history. Take a short walk or snowshoe to this cozy, intimate structure to enjoy a picnic or read journal entries from past guests. Enjoy stories, climbing, history, information on the Sheldon family, and more. Grab a sled and carve runs on the nunatak or down on the glacier, learn to make an igloo or snow cave.

The high elevations of Sheldon Chalet, combined with the crystal-clear mountain air make for stellar aurora-viewing and stargazing. Watch as the aurora dances above the amphitheater on the chalet’s observation deck. Sheldon Chalet’s location – latitude 63 degrees, and elevation- 6000 ft means the troposphere is some of the thinnest on the planet which allows you to see the aurora’s blues and purples as well as shooting stars more often and brighter than elsewhere. Weather is a major factor for seeing the aurora, and Denali creates its own weather pattern because of its sheer size. Generally, the aurora is visible about one in three nights, and skies need to be clear to see them, and as you can guess there is no guarantee they will be visible.

  7. Day 7 DENALI NATIONAL PARK TO TALKEETNA TO ANCHORAGE
