Why Cappadocia, Turkey Is The World’s Most Sacred Site!
Cappadocia is unlike any other place on the planet. You’ll feel as if you’ve landed on another planet because to its unusual rock formations. Saxon Switzerland in Germany and Chile’s Valley of the Moon were the only other spots that came close.
The Cappadocia region of Turkey is the world’s most popular hot air ballooning destination. Over half of all balloon journeys in the globe took place in the region last year, with nearly half a million people flying to the skies.
It’s also one of the few sites on the planet where you can virtually always go ballooning. Trips are available in both hot summers and cold winters, and the scenery is stunning in both.
While flying, you won’t just see a few balloons; the sky will be filled with around 100 balloons of various colors and designs. Every day is like a carnival. But don’t worry; it’s one of the most highly policed areas in the country, with a superb safety record. To fly here, pilots must train for five times as long as they would in other parts of the world.
When in Cappadocia, you must taste a pottery kebab. In this classic tomato-based stew, a choice of meat is roasted in a sealed clay pot. It comes at the table entire, and it’s up to you to crack it open with a large knife. It’s a bit of a dramatic scene, but there’s also a lot going on.
Cappadocia is a region steeped in history, but not the kind that used to put me to sleep in school! Although I hinted to it earlier, there are 36 underground settlements that were formerly used by Christians to flee Roman forces.
