Discovering Turkey’s Aegean Beaches
The Aegean coast of Turkey stretches from Istanbul in the north to Marmaris in the south. The charming small resorts along the shoreline, commonly referred to as the west coast, were previously fishing settlements and are now well-known tourist destinations. They’re wonderful for solo travel, but because of the enormous volume of visitors in the area, travel agencies provide a variety of low-cost vacation packages.
Because of the high frequency of foreign flights throughout the summer, Izmir and Bodrum airports are the two main hubs of the Aegean coast. Mugla airport is also an option, however the transfer time will be longer. During the winter, local expats will take a connecting flight from Istanbul.
There are numerous tourist resorts strewn around the coastline, and anyone planning a road trip across the area will require at least a month to visit them all.
The Izmir peninsula serves two objectives. First, it acts as a great city break because it is Turkey’s third largest city. Smaller nearby resorts each have their own draw, such as: – Alapati is an excellent place for windsurfers, especially during their annual surfing festival.
– Bergama is close to Pergamon’s ancient ruins.
– For Turks who own second vacation houses in the area, Foca is a popular getaway.
– Sefirhisar is a member of the Cittaslow movement, which works to maintain traditional characteristics of village life all over the world.
– The Bodrum Peninsula is a popular location for both Turkish and foreign budget travellers and jet set celebrities. It’s also a paradise for artists who thrive on the relaxed, uncomplicated lifestyle.
– The town center is ideal for those looking to party hard while on vacation. – Gumbet has a reputation as a British resort with an emphasis on beach life and water sports.
